Hello 2014! We are just a few days into the new year. Over the last few days, I’ve been reading up on the trends for the year. Beauty trends, money trends, fashion, and the Pantone Color of the Year.

Trends, trends, trends. I made a list of the top marketing trends for the year based on all of the data I’ve been looking at over the last few weeks. Here are my top 5:

1. Vine will grow – Yep, I do believe that Vine will grow even more in 2014. I found my way back to Vine recently. There are so many talented people creating great content. I describe Vine to my friends as “the new In Living Color”. It’s fun, and easy to absorb on the go. Recently, Vine launched web profiles and a full TV mode. I registered my page here: https://vine.co/TheGreatDanaJ If you are a Vine user, or if you feel motivated to become one now 😉 follow me!

2. Instagram Changes – I can’t wait to see what Instagram ads are going to do. Hopefully, Instagram will open them up to all users in 2014. I like the urls on Instagram now that make it easier to shop photos. I also hope that the Instagram app becomes easier to search.

3. Pinterest – More people will join Pinterest. I also see a rise in sites like Keep. Anything that makes online shopping easier and faster will come out on top this year.

4. Facebook – Young kids will continue to leave Facebook for ask.fm, Snapchat and Tumblr. Too many parents are on Facebook, too much supervision. I’m not sure how or if Facebook can get them back either. Changes to the Facebook algorithm for what shows up in your Timeline will continue to change. Sucks, but that’s how it goes.

5. Blurred Lines – As social media continues to grow, I believe that the lines between PR/Social media/SEO will continue to be blurred. Working in any of those fields will mean that you will need to have a combination of skills to do your job successfully!
