I took a vacation this weekend on a girl’s trip to Folly Beach, SC. I am reluctant to admit the last time I took a vacation before this. For the longest time that I thought that people didn’t need vacations. That if I worked really hard I could keep making small steps toward the career I want to have. But honestly, that thought is untrue. This week while sitting in my office logged into 2 different Facebook accounts, 2 diferent  HootSuites, 1 CoTweet account and 1 Twitter I almost had a nervous breakdown. I love what I do, but to do it everyday…that gets tough sometimes. So here is what I learned this weekend while in Folly:

1. Vacations are a necessary luxury: I will make sacrifices like no eating out, or less new things, or no Planet Smoothie to afford them

2. It is okay to unplug from the world: I don’t NEED to be logged on, turned on and checked in to all the social media accounts I have

3. Vacations lead to revelations: Getting away helped me realize that I am right where I need to be in my life. I’m where I sought to be one year ago and hope to only continue growing.

4. I like to travel: I’ve always known that I like to travel and go places, but for some reason, I just stopped pursuing new trips. I can’t ignore that feeling any more.

5. I refuse to go with out vacations for so long again: Denying myself vacations has been a detriment! I think I deserve to get away at least every 4-6 months. I want to make it a priority to save money to do so.
