My second Peachtree Road Race is in exactly 2 weeks! This will be my first race since the Nike Women’s Half in DC at the end of April. My first 10k of the year too. I need to post a race calendar for the rest of 2013. I am signed up for a few fun races. Will do that soon! So, I’ve been doing most of my running outside. However, we have had a few rainy days where I was forced to go to the gym.

Besides evening runs, I’ve been doing 20-30 minute morning routines when I wake up 3-4 times a week. (I wake up at 5am, so not every morning ;)). Between my computer, iPad and cell phone(s) I’ve finally figured out which method for watching workouts or following a workout list works best. At 5am, it’s easiest to use the Blackberry Z10. I feel like of all three methods, it never lets me down or ruins my workout with interrupted cell coverage. On my iPhone 4, videos aren’t very enjoyable. With the Z10, I watch music videos and YouTube tutorials clearly, easily and often!

I’m a member of the Tone It Up community so, I use the morning workouts and schedule that they recommend in addition to my running schedule. Yes, it’s early and most times sometimes it’s hard to want to get up, but using my Blackberry to do the workouts allows me roll out of bed and just do it! That’s all it takes 🙂

When it comes to waking up before the sun, that simplicity is invaluable. Do you workout in the mornings? What motivates you?
