My friend got me in on this show and its ties to Atlanta. So, I binge watched week 1 and 2 in one night then the finale episode as soon as it came out. This past week, I watched the reunion and my latest podcast talks about the show.

Thoughts on the experiment
I think that there’s room to try something different. I say this because there are a lot of single people out there who genuinely want a loving relationship. Some of the means to get these relationships need work. Also, some of the people need work. Well, all of the people because no one is perfect. I don’t think any of the people on this show were and I no one that I know of is.

Thoughts on the reunion
I think the reunion genuinely showed how each couple has a deep and strong connection.

Gianna and Damien
I thought they had dysfunctional communication. Gianna was a below the belt fighter and Damien was more laid back and calm. I wasn’t surprised by the outcome for them on the show. However, I think the show should serve as a good learning opportunity for them to learn from. They are still dating and I think that’s great.

Cameron and Lauren
I was rooting for them from the start. They both appeared healthy and open to something new. Dating outside of her race was new for Lauren, I like that she opened up to the experience and it paid off because they really are a great match. It was pretty inspiring to watch them connect and even more exciting to see that they are still going strong. Love to see it.

Barnett and Amber
I thought that they had strong physical chemistry but I was kind of surprised they got married. I think it was a case of us not seeing everything that really happened behind the scenes. When I went back to rewatch the first episode I saw how connected they were outside of just the physical and how they seem like great friends. For instance, Amber made a comment about not paying down debt and wanting to be a housewife. What we didn’t see was an explanation behind why she wasn’t paying it down and we didn’t see Barnett admit that he had debt. By withholding everything it paints a picture of her being a gold digger who doesn’t work, when in reality she was just getting over some personal challenges including depression.

Jessica and Mark
They did not get married but this was not a surprise at all. In my opinion, Jessica was not happy as an individual. In the reunion, she talks about how the show was a reality check for her and I think that’s great.

Kelly and Kenny
I don’t think she was attracted to him. Very early on she kept hinting at it. Something just wasn’t there. I thought that had open minded and supportive parents though. I like that he’s found someone and that they care about each other as much as they showed on the reunion.

Carlton and Diamond
I found this to not make sense from the get go. It was built on deception. I think that a lot of hurt came up for Carlton after he revealed his secret. Ultimately, I think he should have just been straightforward about it but there are a lot of double standards for men when it comes to being fluid. I’m sure that gender fluidity has been around for the longest time but only more recently has it become mainstream. It’s hard for people to accept it.
