Lately, I’ve been struggling with keeping my energy up. So, over the last month I’ve been focusing on taking my vitamins, going to bed at a reasonable hour and working out regularly. With impeccable timing, I received an email from Vega about testing their new Pre-Workout Energizer. I’m a fan of Vega, and I’ve tried some of their products before so, I was excited to receive their latest product. I took the energizer prior to my morning workouts and Saturday run.

How does the sugar-free energizer work? The instructions say: mix 1 pack in a cup (8 oz. of water) 20 minutes prior to low intensity workout. It’s not a replacement for sleep though! {See more on this below}

Here’s my timeline:

5:00 am – Alarm goes off, I drink the pre-workout energizer and hit snooze

5:20 am – I get up and prepped for my morning workout (last week I did HIIT workouts from Tone It Up or a Blogilates circuit)

6:00 am – Start getting ready for the day

At 5am, the easiest option is to empty the packet into a 10 oz. water bottle. The one on the right is the Acai Berry flavor. I usually just shake, drink then hit snooze. On Saturday morning, I felt like doing something a little different so I mixed the Lemon Lime flavor with water then added ice. My favorite flavor between the two? The Lemon Lime, iced tasted best!

How does it feel? Well, I noticed a boost for sure just after my workout! I usually peak for the day mid-afternoon. With the energizer, I definitely felt a nice natural lift in my energy level. It wasn’t similar to coming down off caffeine which for me, usually has a “crash then burn” effect. Since I worked out so early in the morning, the natural boost was appreciated!

What’s in it? In the Acai Berry: berries, acai and pomegranate flavors with red beet powder and stevia

Lemon Lime: Lemon and Lime flavors, spinach leaf powder, beta carotene and stevia

Would I buy it? Well, I would consider buying a tub of Lemon Lime at $49.99 for 30 servings or a single pack at $2.49 randomly on the fly. I noticed that Vega products are occasionally on sale at Whole Foods, so I would watch for them there. Oh, so I stayed up late before my Saturday run and I noticed a difference after taking the energizer was not a substantial. Naturally, nothing can replace a good night’s sleep and the energizer works best in combination with healthy habits 😉

Have you ever tried a pre-workout energizer?

Disclosure: Vega reached out to me with samples of this product to try. As always, all opinions are my own.
