Lately, I’ve been on a biography kick with my book selections. I’ve also found that the books have a big female empowerment kick to them too. I picked up Bossypants a while back and it was a great selection. I’ve even referred it to a few friends and I gave it to my cousin for her birthday.

3 Reasons why you should read it too:

I found this photo on this cool site

1. It’s about female empowerment: Apparently, women aren’t supposed to be funny. That’s one obstacle that Tina Fey faced in her career. In the book she talks about the sexist aspects of the comedian world and how she overcame them to become the first female head writer of SNL.

2. Tina Fey is strange in a good way: The most appealing part of the book is how Tina Fey addresses her strengths and weaknesses with humor. I say strengths in addition to weaknesses because honestly, many of the things she pokes fun at are the same things that make her pretty cool in my opinion.

3. The book chronicles her career: I like reading about how she struggled and didn’t really know what her path was, then she recognized it and climbed her way to the top. It was motivation for me! She also writes about her childhood and marriage. The book is done in a really cool writing style!

I was going to make one of my three reasons the fact that the book is humorous. But, that’s too obvious. It is pretty funny though and I enjoyed reading through. If you have a chance, check it out. If your near me, you can even borrow my copy 🙂 If you aren’t near me, they just released the book in paperback!

Happy reading!
