Trying NuShape

Earlier this year I started taking NuShape to help with my fitness goals.

At first, I was nervous that NuShape would make me jittery due to the caffeine. The great thing is, NuShape does not have any caffeine in it. I don’t drink caffeine (except in tea) so this made the product way more appealing to me. In terms of results, after 30 days I lost 3 pounds. I do believe that with a solid plan and commitment to exercise 15 minutes a day it’s possible to lose more. I got sick in the middle of my 30 days. Which caused a slight setback. I didn’t want to eat or move for several days. On top of that, I took a trip to Minnesota where it was -11 degrees outside. I worked out there, but my body was literally in shock from that cold. A few tips in regards to NuShape:

1. Make a complete 30 day plan. Where you are going and what you will be eating. It will help tremendously to plan before you go. I did not have any fried foods and started drinking 80 oz + of water per day. However, I could have tightened up my eating by having a specific and detailed plan. I’m not going to lie, I’m still working on meal planning and budgeting. I know that it can only help me financially and physically to get that together.

2. Do the 15 minutes of exercise. I would make myself get 15 minutes in before bed if I happened to miss a workout during the day. That’s not a long amount of time to commit to being healthy. At all.

3. Be careful about traveling with the bottle. I took mine to Minnesota and kept it in the car. Everything held up fine, however, moving the bottle around so much caused some of the pills to crush in the bottom. So be careful.

4. Don’t try to change too many behaviors at once. I tried to take NuShape and also introduce food journaling at the same time. Inevitably, I was not successful with two new things at once. Food journaling can help with weight maintenance, but trying two new things like that simultaneously led to failure for me!

5. Try it with a friend. It’s nice to compare notes with someone else going through the same experience. My mom wants to try NuShape now, and I’m open to committing to another month to test it out with her.

Have you ever tried anything like NuShape? This is my second go with a product like this. I’m open to trying it again because the product is all natural.

Disclosure: I received a free 30 day trial of NuShape to test. Thoughts and opinions of the product are my own.

A New Galaxy

A few weeks back, Verizon Wireless contacted me about joining their Ambassador program! I’m not going to lie, I was EXCITED. I’m still pretty excited about it today. Last Friday, the Ambassador hashtag: #VZWA buzzed with excitement about a special delivery. I chose not too look though because I wanted to be surprised ;) Well, when my new phone arrived, it felt like Christmas!

The Samsung Galaxy S3!

I played with the phone all weekend! So far one of my favorite things about the phone happens to be the SIZE. It’s easier to talk on and hold because it’s slightly larger than the iPhone. See:

See what I’m saying? Here’s another:

I like how the Galaxy is thinner but wider and longer. When I talk on the phone, it’s easier to hold. Sometimes, when I have a long phone call my hands hurt from holding the iPhone. The slightly larger Galaxy offers more comfort. Does anyone else have this problem? I don’t think I’m alone. When I’m watching YouTube videos, it’s less of an eye sore. I did a workout last night while watching a video and the view was great.

Since the Galaxy is a Droid, I’ve been adding my favorite apps via Google Play. So far, using this phone has opened my horizons. Next time I buy a cell phone I’ll test out a few. Not to say that I regret getting an iPhone, but I will test more phones before making a purchase decision when my next contract is up! There are many more things I plan to do with the Galaxy during our time together including photos and videos. Stay tuned for more updates and reviews across the social media sphere. Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

Get Noticed In A Noisy World

I just finished Platform: Get Noticed In a Noisy World by Michael Hyatt. If you follow me on Twitter, or happen to be my Facebook friend then you know that I read Michael Hyatt’s blog consistently. He has great information about leadership, publishing and social media. I also get his posts delivered by email everyday! When I found out about his latest book, I knew that I wanted to read it. The title alone draws you in!

I purchased the Kindle edition of the book. Lately, that’s the most effective way to ensure that I actually finish reading books. I almost always have my iPad with me and I use the Kindle app to read during long trips, when I wake up and when I go to bed. This book was well worth every penny! In it, Michael tells you exactly how/why he built up his “brand” online. He gives lots of detailed information about advertising and how to grow your following. I love his writing style! It’s positive, informative and he seems like a laid back person. The advice is not specific to a particular industry but more tailored to the business of “people”. I really appreciate his candor. Sometimes, I feel like professionals don’t want to tell you how they “made it” or got where they are professionally. I enjoyed reading about how Michael is open to sharing that journey and helping the rest of the world embark on it to. I also appreciate how he shared information about many other books, blogs and authors for us to check out on the topic. The Resource section in the back of the book is overflowing with information.

Who should read Platform?

I think that if you work in Marketing, Public Relations or Social Media this book should be required reading. There are so many things that you aren’t doing and probably don’t know how in these fields and Michael Hyatt breaks them down. If you want to start a blog, or build your social media platforms professionally I highly recommend reading this book!

If you are interested in purchasing the book, here it is on Amazon.

What are you reading this summer?

Part of Me

On a whim this week, I treated myself to a matinee of Part of Me. (I did not see the 3D version, but I bet it’s equally fun) This summer, I have grown to really appreciate matinees. They are inexpensive easy “day breaks” from the reality of life. Sometimes I go with friends, and sometimes if no one wants to see the movies I pick, I will treat myself. I would not call myself a “Katy Cat” or Katy Perry super fan. After watching her talk about the movie and how she financed it with her own money and because I’m a documentary fan I felt like it was worth my time. I never expected it to be as great as it was. The concert setups were colorful candy coated confections of happiness. They reminded me of Willy Wonka and The Wizard of Oz. Here’s a preview:

The movie was incredibly relatable. Katy is close to my age and many of the things she is experiencing, are things most twenty somethings are going through. So I literally cried at some points. At times, labels tried to change her and force her into a mold. Many people told her she would never succeed and even her parents don’t “get it” at times. I found myself in tears at some points. Sometimes the voice within is more powerful and all knowing than any force outside of us. There is an awkward moment in the movie where Katy’s marriage is ending and she is shopping for a wedding dress with her sister. Strange thing to go through right? I like her take charge attitude about her career and brand. The performances serve as a soundtrack to her story. I also had no clue that she was so involved in the writing process of many of her songs. The lyrics are pretty dynamic and clever.

I love how she used real videos from her fans talking about how her music has inspired them. She also incorporated supportive tweets from her #Katycats when the news broke about her divorce. And she featured this video of PS22 singing Firework that gave me chills:

I highly recommend seeing the movie. If you’ve seen it, let me know your thoughts.

Review: Subway Oven Crisp Sandwich

Preview post

I received a Subway giftcard from Klout Perks to try their new Subway Oven Crisp Sandwich. I ended up getting a foot long and eating the halves for two days as a lunch entree. I am a fan of Subway, however, I would not order this sandwich again. I felt like the chicken tasted like what it was: breaded, baked chicken. The veggie options and honey mustard tasted great. I tasted the veggies more than anything but overall on a scale of 1-10 I give the sandwich a 5. I prefer the Turkey breast to this one.

Disclaimer: I received a giftcard to purchase this sandwich. However, the opinions and reviews about the product are all my own.
